When a shepherd boy tells his mother that there are three kings at the door of their tiny home, a remarkable encounter begins. His mother believes it’s just another one of his tall tales, but opening the door herself, sees its true. The widow opens the door of their humble home to the kings, and before the night is through, the mighty kings open their hearts as they witness the miracles that flow from simple acts of generosity. Faithful Fools is presenting the story of Amahl and the Night Visitors in celebration of their mission to “shatter myths about those living in poverty, seeing the light, courage, intelligence, and creativity of the people we encounter.”

Meet Our Cast

Amahl's Mother
Our very own soprano and Fool. Her voice is filled with love and her presence on stage lets us experience Amahl's mother as a complex and devoted parent. Nancy Munn's voice is rich with love and commitment as she tells the kings, and us, of what it means to love a son in the midst of terrible worry.

King Balthazar
It is King Balthazar whose sense of the star and the weight of the journey guides his companions, but it is also King Balthazar whose heart swiftly understands the miracle they all witness. Isaiah Musik-Ayala's voice holds our hearts and gently guides us as we too follow the star.

J. Raymond Meyers
King Kaspar
Mennotti once explained that his brother was convinced that Kaspar was deaf because he never got what he asked for. Joe Meyers' Kaspar is proof that if he could have heard what the child was longing for he surely would have done all he could to fulfill that wish.
King Melchior
King Melchior's travels have taken him far from home. He discovers with Amahl, a most engaging and curious host, their common humanity, even if they look very different from one another. Bradely Kynard's rich voice and majestic presence make him a delightful conversational partner for Amahl.
