About Mercy Volunteer Corps

Mercy Volunteer Corps promotes social change by placing and supporting volunteers for one year of service in various services sites to enter into relationship with people who are economically poor and marginalized while they live together in community and grow spiritually. In a spirit of mutuality, volunteers cultivate mercy and justice in the world by embracing compassionate service, social justice, spirituality and a simple lifestyle in community.

Volunteering at Faithful Fools

At Faithful Fools, Mercy Volunteers support weekly programs and monthly street retreats, accompany individuals who need support in accessing housing and supportive services, provide hospitality presence, organize various programs (including workshops and student immersion groups), and participate in advocating for the homeless and impoverished residents of San Francisco. Faithful Fools is an environment of learning, growing, flexibility, exploration, and relationship.

FROM OUR MERCY VOLUNTEERS

-Maggie -'18, '19

"At Faithful Fools I learned from and built relationships with people experiencing poverty and societal injustices. I began exploring what my place is, and how I can better walk in solidarity with those on the margins. It is through learning about the causes of poverty that I have begun to discover what people actually need."
